Mahabharat Retold with Scientific Evidence (Revised Edition)
(Revised Edition)
About the Book
This Revised Edition of Mahabharat Retold with Scientific Evidence has been published by Vision India Publications and released in 2023. It is much improved in quality and content; it has a beautiful Jacket, and excellent printing that includes 92 exquisite colour pages on Art Paper.
The readers have particularly appreciated the bracketing of the important excavated sites with the Mahabharat Kingdoms in which these were located. The kingdoms along with their archaeological sites have been listed together alongside the Map in Chapter 48.
Mahabharat is one of the two most important epics of ancient India written in Sanskrit. It consists of more than one lakh verses, composed by Sage Dvaipayan Vyas.
This book has summarised the longest poem in the world in just 300 pages in a simple and easy-to-understand language. Scientific proofs have been woven into the story with fascinating images.
Exact dates of important events have been determined by generating the sequential sky-views of astronomical positions recorded in Mahabharat, using planetarium softwares.
You may experience how the sky looked when Lord Krishna was preaching the philosophy of Gita to Arjun, when Bhishma departed from the world of humans at the beginning of Uttarayan or when Kaliyuga started after 37 years of war.
You may examine the Map depicting excavated Harappan sites located within the territories of Kingdoms, which fought on behalf of Kauravas and Pandavas during the war. Would it not be more appropriate to describe these as Vedic sites of the Mahabharat era?
The book has analysed different claims made by esteemed scholars as to the date of the Mahabharat war. After that, it has been proved, based on multiple scientific proofs, that the war took place in 3139 BCE and that Mahabharat represents the ancient history of India.

First Edition of Mahabharat Retold with Scientific Evidence
Given below is the image of the first Edition of the Book, published by Garuda Prakashan, formally launched on 20th March 2021 in the Constitution Club by Dr Sonal Mansingh (Padma Vibhushan) and Dr Suresh Prabhu, both Members of Rajya Sabha in the presence of a most distinguished audience.
This Book has been so popular that all the copies were sold out within one year. Thereafter Garuda Prakashan started selling without permission its sub-standard editions, printed on low-quality paper, wherein even sky views were printed on substandard paper and hence were not legible. Therefore, I had to work very hard to get its premium edition published by another publisher named Vision India Publications, after making many improvements to its contents, paper print and design. The picture and introduction of this Revised Edition has been given at the top.
About the Book
This book is a narration of important events of the Mahabharat war with exact dates. Sky simulations of sequential astronomical references, spanning a period of 52 years, have proved that the war was fought in the year 3139 BCE.
Besides astronomy, the book puts forth evidence from seven disciplines of science, which prove that the profound philosophy of Bhagavad Gita was actually passed on to the world on Shukla Ekadashi of Margashirsha Month in 3139 BCE.
The readers shall be able to enjoy the hair-raising experience of looking at the Kali Era conjunction in the morning of 19th February 3102 BCE, heralding the beginning of Kaliyuga, as has been believed for thousands of years.
Most of the Excavated sites, having carbon dates of samples and artifacts around 3000 BCE, and associated with Harappan civilization, were actually located within the territories of kingdoms which participated in Mahabharat war.
Map having Geo co-ordinates of the kingdoms which fought during the Mahabharat war, along with GPS plotting of excavated Harappan sites located therein, would change your perception about ancient India’s history.
If Mahabharat war was fought in 3139 BCE, are we not supposed to conclude that the Harappan civilization was actually the Vedic civilization of Mahabharat era, which has been indigenously developing till date?

This video recorded on 20th March 2021 will compel the viewer to look at the evidence and re-calibrate his understanding of ancient India. The reader will be enthralled to look at the sequential sky views of astronomical references in Mahabharat, which lead to inevitable conclusion that Mahabharat War was fought in 3139 BCE. Look at the Kali Era conjunction in the morning of 19th February 3102 BCE, heralding the beginning of Kaliyuga. The Book proves that the profound philosophy of Bhagavad Gita was actually passed on to the world on Shukla Ekadashi of Margashirsha Month in 3139 BCE.
Most of the excavated sites, having carbon dates of samples and artefacts around 3000 BCE and associated with Harappan civilisation, were actually located within the territories of kingdoms which participated in Mahabharat war. Just imagine if Mahabharat war was actually fought in 3139 BCE and most of the so-called Harappan sites were located in the kingdoms which participated in the war; were not we supposed to conclude that the so called Harappan Civilisation was actually the Vedic civilisation of Mahabharat era?

Dr. Sonal Mansingh launched the Book Mahabharat Retold with Scientific Evidence on 20th March 2021 and appreciated the contents of the book. She said that such an outstanding book could only be authored with divine blessings.
According to her, Saroj Bala was lucky to get the divine signals, following which she devoted herself whole heatedly to determining historicity of Ramayan and Mahabharat eras. She went through exceptionally voluminous text, about which it is said that whatever is not there in Mahabharat, that would not be found anywhere else. Then she worked on determining the dates of events narrated therein based on the scientific proofs.....
Dr. Suresh Prabhu appreciated the quality of research carried out by Saroj Bala to prove the Historicity of Ramayan and Mahabharat Eras. This has made Indians feel proud of our ancient heritage.

Dr Suresh Prabhu, while launching the book on 20th March 2021, lauded the efforts made by Saroj Bala in scientifically determining the historicity and antiquity of the Ramayan and Mahabharat eras. He recollected that about two years back he had launched another book ‘Ramayan Retold with Scientific Evidence’, authored by her.
He added that we have all heard about Mahabharat and Ramayan, but Saroj Ji has given credible and convincing details of events narrated in these epics, along with the precise dates of their occurrences. These have made Indians feel proud of their ancient history and heritage. He concluded by saying that for such a brilliant job done by her, we Indians feel grateful to her as she has raised our self-esteem and pride in the oldest civilization of our Motherland Bharat Varsha.
Dr Kalam inspires and Saroj Bala determines the exact dates of events relating to the Mahabharat War
On 20th March 2021 at the time of the release of Mahabharat Retold with Scientific Evidence, Saroj Bala spoke introductory words about its contents. The viewers would be surprised as well as enthralled to look at the sequential sky views of astronomical references in the Mahabharat, which lead to the inevitable conclusion that the Mahabharat War was fought in 3139 BCE.
Their folk beliefs coming down for thousands of years have been proved correct. Look at the sky simulations showing lunar and solar eclipses a few days before the war in 3139 BCE! The book displays the sky view of the time when Lord Krishna was imparting Gita Gyan to Arjun before the war in Margashirsha month of 3139 BCE. There was a total Solar Eclipse in Dwarka seen in the Historical year 3103 BCE, after which the people of Yadu Vansh were destroyed and Dwarka was submerged.

The Book includes the sky view, proving your 5000-year-old belief as true that the Kali Era Conjunction was seen on the morning of 19th February 3102 BCE, heralding the beginning of Kaliyuga. The Book proves that the profound philosophy of Bhagavad Gita was actually passed on to the world on Shukla Ekadashi of Margashirsha Month in 3139 BCE, which is celebrated as Gita Jayanti to date.
The proofs from Archaeology, Palaeo-botany, Geography, Remote Sensing, Genetic studies etc. fully support this astronomical date sequence of the Mahabharat era.
Smt Saroj Bala also read out an extract from the Foreword written by Padma Bhushan Dr Kapil Kapoor, “At least twenty sky views using planetarium soft wares, which are spread over a time sequence of 52 years, have been generated and included in the book. The sky simulation depicting the location of seven planets vis-à-vis sixteen nakshatras on 10th October 3139 BCE (14th September as per Planetarium Gold) is indeed unique and firmly relates the war to 3139 BCE.”
Have a look at this sky simulation which exactly matches the position of all the planets and nakshatras described by Sage Vyas in verses 6/3/14 to 6/3/18 of Bhishma Parva, observed a few hours before the inauspicious Solar Eclipse of Kartik Amavasya. The positions described in these verses and shown in this sky view are as under –
Mangal (Mars) was entering its own house, i.e., Mesha (Aries) in backwards-forward motion; Jupiter was in Shravan Nakshatra (in Capricornus). Shani (Saturn) was in Scorpius and was thus aspecting Uttar Phalguni (in Leo) which is 10th constellation from Scorpius. The planet Shukra (Venus) was aspecting Poorva Bhadrapada & Uttara Bhadrapada, in Pisces. Both Ketu and Mercury were in Jyeshta in Scorpius. Both Sun and Moon were located in Jyeshta (Scorpius) and were afflicting Rohini in Taurus. Mercury is also aspecting Jyeshta in Scorpius. Shukra (Venus) was situated between Chitra & Swati Asterisms, i.e., between Virgo and Libra constellations. Jupiter is going around Shrawan in Brahmarashi, i.e., Capricornus.
It was verified by operating both Planetarium and Stellarium Software that this sky view could not be observed on any other date 25920 years before and 25920 after this Kartik Amavasya in 3139 BCE
All the astronomical positions described in Mahabharat (6/3/14 to 6/3/18) have been shown in yellow text in this sky simulation of 14th September 3139 BCE
Planetary positions seen in the sky around 6 hours before the solar eclipse observable from Hastinapur (29°N, 77°E) on Kartik Amavasya in 3139 BCE
Overview of Book: Evidence from Astronomy, Archaeology etc. places the Mahabharat War in 3139 BCE
The Book “Mahabharat Retold with Scientific Evidence’ was released jointly by two revered members of the Rajya Sabha - Dr Sonal Mansingh (Padma Vibhushan) and Dr Suresh Prabhu on 20th March 2021. Smt. Saroj Bala explained the methodology adopted for determining the exact dates of events narrated in the Epic Mahabharat by Maharshi Vyas.
She explained that sky simulations of sequential astronomical references, spanning a period of 52 years from 3153 to 3101 BCE, have proved that the war was fought in the year 3139 BCE. The proofs from geography, archaeology, palaeobotany, remote sensing etc. have supported this astronomical date sequence

Most of the Excavated sites, having carbon dates of samples and artefacts around 3000 BCE, have been inappropriately described as Harappan sites. These were actually located within the territories of kingdoms which participated in the Mahabharat war. Map having Geo coordinates of the kingdoms which fought during the Mahabharat war, along with GPS plotting of excavated Vedic Harappan sites located therein, would change your perception of ancient India’s history.
It has been proved with credibility that Early and Mature Harappan sites with C14 dates of 3500 to 2400 BCE were actually Vedic sites of the Mahabharat era. There is a need to update the history books of schools and colleges so that conclusions drawn from the latest archaeological reports given by eminent archaeologists, like Dr Jarrige, Dr Rakesh Tiwari, Dr Mani, Shri Dikshit, Dr Bisht, Dr Vasant Shinde, Dr Manjul are included in the books. These excavation reports have pushed back the antiquity of Indian civilization by a few millennia.
Saroj Bala finally posed a pertinent question - if the Mahabharat war was fought in 3139 BCE, are we not supposed to conclude that the Harappan civilization was actually the Vedic civilization of the Mahabharat era, which has been indigenously developing to date?

Sangam Talks- Methodology adopted to determine scientifically the exact dates of Mahabharat War
In this extract from that video uploaded by Sangam Talks YouTube Channel, Smt. Saroj Bala has explained the multi-disciplinary scientific research adopted by her to determine the historicity and dates of the Mahabharat era. The reader will be enthralled to look at the sequential sky views of astronomical references in Mahabharat, which lead to the inevitable conclusion that the Mahabharat War was fought in 3139 BCE.
Look at the Planetarium Gold Sky-view displaying that all planetary positions described in verses 3/14-18 of Bhishma Parva were seen only on 14th September 3139 BCE during the last 25920 years! The Solar eclipse was observed after 36 years of war in Dwarka, after which the city got submerged! Look at the Kali Era conjunction in the morning of 19th February 3102 BCE, heralding the beginning of Kaliyuga!

This video will compel the viewer to look at the convincing, credible evidence and then re-calibrate his understanding of the richness and antiquity of the culture and civilization of ancient India!
Sangam Talks- The Book proves that Early & Mature Harappan sites were Vedic sites of Mahabharat Era
In this extract from that video, Saroj Bala has explained that an indigenous Vedic civilization has been developing in India for the last 9000 years. The astronomical dates of planetary references in Mahabharat determined using Planetarium soft wares, have revealed that the war was fought in 3139 BCE and that the vast archaeological evidence has fully supported this date sequence.
She went on to explain that actually excavated sites in the Indus-Sarasvati area were named Harappan civilization, probably because Harappa was the first excavated site. More than 3000 sites have been excavated thereafter, revealing that Vedic civilization was developing in the area since 7000 BCE.

The biggest achievement of this book is the Map of Mahabharat kingdoms along with GPS plotting of archaeological sites located therein. This Map along with details included in the book, proves with credibility that Early and Mature Harappan sites with C14 dates of 3500 to 2500 BCE were actually Vedic sites of the Mahabharat era. In the words of Dr Kapil Kapoor (Padma Bhushan), “This Map leaves no doubt that the entire land of India was in the process of getting civilized and cultured more than 5100 years back. This Map could prove of great help to those who are developing, who are developing Shri Krishna and the Mahabharata Tourism Circuits…….”
There is a need to update the history books of schools and colleges so that conclusions drawn from the latest archaeological reports given by eminent archaeologists, like Dr Jarrige, Dr Rakesh Tiwari, Dr Mani, Shri Dikshit, Dr Bisht, Dr Vasant Shinde, Dr Sanjay Manjul are included in those books. These archaeological reports have pushed back the antiquity of Indian civilization by a few millennia. Have a look at chapters 47 and 48 of the Book and then identify the excavated site nearest to your hometown!
